Some Fun Stress Management Activities
Brainstorming Sessions
Role playing is a fun stress management activity for many. Break the class up into groups and have the students think of situations or settings that will often cause a person to experience increased levels of stress. After they have been given some time to create a list, have them act out a skit that portrays a stressful situation and solutions to counteract against it. This activity will accomplish several different objectives. It will teach them to work together as a team, they can learn more about stress and how to manage it, and of course what types of situations cause stress.
Once each group has done their skit, create a discussion afterward about the significance of stress management and how talking to teachers, family, and friends can help them deal with it. They will then understand how talking about their sources of stress can be a great way relieve it. The more interaction that students have with one another, the more fun fun the stress management activities will be for them.
Screaming Toes
Make a game out of stress management activities and following them with discussions makes it fun and educational. Screaming toes is a wonderful game you can teach kids, but probably not for teens to play. It starts by the children standing in a circle. Then, each person will choose to look subtly at another’s feet. Once they have done so, on the count of three have them look at the person who’s feet they chose. If two children are looking at each other, then they participate in a scream off to see who can last the longest. The winner is the one who is standing last.
After doing this activity, you can explain to the children the effects physically that stress has on people and also how finding an outlet for it is important. Scream or yelling into a pillow at home or with the car windows up can help people blow off some steam. You can also talk about additional activities that help too such as exercising, visualization, and yoga. These fun stress management activities will surely not be forgotten.
